Wednesday Confessions

Hey everyone! I’m so excited that after today I only have 2 more work days and then I’m off all next week. So thankful I’ll be able to spend some much needed family time with my husband and boys.

This picture was taken this past weekend, and I was able to spend a lot of time with my boys playing outside which was great! I know I’m a little biased, but aren’t they the cutest?!

Today I’m linking up on Humpday Confessions and sharing a few of my deepest/darkest secrets!-haha 😉

Confessions:

Mom Confessions:

  • I sometimes wait until after my kids go to bed to eat a snack. It’s not that I don’t love sharing with them, but sometimes I really want to eat the WHOLE Little Debbie’s Cake. Not half, not 1/3, not a bite, but the whole thing. Nutty Bars are my fave. ( I say this after I posted a health post yesterday 🙂 )
  • My husband and I often sit up in the evenings after our boys are in bed and discuss the funny things they’ve said that day. Like how yesterday my youngest son (3) told me his leg was hurting, and when I asked why he said “Because it wants to fall off, Mama!” Completely acceptable answer.

Holiday Confessions:

  • I know a lot of people do it, but I don’t really get the whole elf on the shelf thing. I mean, the concept of purposely making messes that you later have to clean up, just makes no sense to me. Call me crazy, but that seems like a lot more work than what it’s worth. Maybe I’m missing the point?
  • I probably get as equally excited as my kids get about going to see the Christmas lights. There’s just something so magical about watching pretty lights in the night sky.

TV Confessions:

  • I’m super excited about the return of Pretty Little Liars. I read all of the books and have watched the shows for years, and was so upset with the idea of the show ending. I watched the preview/behind-the-scenes episode and I think it’s going to be really cool where the producers take the show in terms of a story plot.
  • I know I’m a little late on this, but I was so happy to find out that Glenn didn’t die on The Walking Dead. This is another show that I’m looking forward to the new season.

DIY Confessions:

  • I’m all for trying out new recipes, making crafts, etc. but when the supply list is 8 pages long, I just can’t do it. Especially when it’s supplies that you’ll literally only use once.
  • I can’t stand when you try out something that has a gazillion re-pins on Pinterest, only to be sadly disappointed when it’s an epic fail.

Pet Peeves of the Week:

  • It irks me to no end when people throw trash in the floor RIGHT beside the trash can. It’s your trash, and no one else should have to pick up your nasty used tissues or food containers. Accidentally missing the trashcan is one thing, but purposefully not picking up your trash is just plain lazy.
  • I’m sure this has already been said a bunch of times before, but some things should NEVER be posted on Facebook. The things I see when I scroll through my news feed is literally appalling some days.

  1. What gorgeous photos and I hope you have a lovely Christmas with your family.
I also agree not getting the whole Elf on the Shelf thing – I think it’s really kind of weird!

  2. i have to work because there’s so much crap to be done but at least i can do it from home until jan 4!

  3. Such cute pics with your boys! I am with you on the Elf on the Shelf thing. We don’t do it in our house. I just hope Mila doesn’t eventually feel as though she’s missing out. And yes!!! to Glenn being alive – he’s my favorite so I was thrilled that he made it!

    1. I think abut this statement a lot when I’m eating the box of chocolates that people give you for Christmas, because some are amazing and then some are disgusting-haha!

  4. OMG. Nutty Bars are MY FAVORITE. I haven’t had one in SO LONG… because I have NO self control!!! LOL on the elf on a shelf… I am totally with you! Of course, I don’t have kids, so maybe I really don’t understand… but it seems like so much work. Also.. WHY are you trying to teach your kid to be good by having the elf get into all kinds of trouble?! I’m seriously SO CONFUSED!!

    1. Exactly! That’s the part that confuses me because children learn everything they’re exposed to so if you’re teaching them how to make a huge mess with flour I wouldn’t bat an eyelash to think that they wouldn’t try it another day themselves. & Nutty Bars are the best! They have ones out for Christmas right now that are covered in white chocolate and they are amazing too. Just an FYI 😉

  5. I love PLL too (husband confession – so does he), and we cannot wait for it to start up again. I also laughed at your first mom confession… I don’t even have kids, but sometimes I’ll walk into the closet and eat a snack… I know my husband will try to steal some if I don’t haha!

    1. Haha, that’s awesome that he watches it with you! My husband will sit in the room while I’m watching and try to act all uninterested, but I know he really is 😉

  6. Sometimes the things I see on Facebook make me cringe! I am so quick to hide posts from my timeline on Facebook because I don’t want to see such weird things!

  7. AMEN on the calorie refund thing! I totally second that motion!

When my husband’s kids were little, we did that, too (waiting until they went to bed to eat a snack). Like you said, we got to a point where we wanted to whole item, not part of it. And now, truth be told, that they are older (16 and 20), they can put a hurting on snacks and make things disappear in one sitting. We sometimes hide snacks in our bedroom closet and I’ve been known to keep goodies (weather permitting) in the trunk of my car! If we didn’t, when we’d get a craving and think, “Hey, a such-n-such sounds good about now.” when we’d go to get said item, we’d find that they had already decimated it and it would be gone!

    1. Haha, I can see that being me in 10 years. I’ve heard that boys can leave a huge dent in the grocery bill when they are teenagers, so I’m sure it’s coming.

  8. Sounds like you have some awesome time off coming. I don’t get the Elf on the shelf either, my Dad just had to give the look and we were good. Haha! Hope you have some relaxing planned.

  9. I love your confessions and totally relate to the snack one, haha! {Coming over today from Jessi & Jenn’s link-up. 🙂 }

  10. This is such a cute post. Thanks for sharing your confessions! And 100% AGREE with your last quote. Take back those calories!

  11. Not too long ago I wrote an entire post on FB statuses that make me eyeroll! Like really, sometimes you don’t need to share certain things! And YES to Glenn being alive! I thought he was a goner for sure! But now it makes me nervous that a major character is going to die soon!

    1. Completely agree on the FB thing! And I know what you mean with The Walking Dead, it seems like they can’t go too many episodes without someone dying. I am glad that Glenn is okay, as him and Maggie are really the last couple. Thanks for stopping by!

  12. I will never get sick of checking out Christmas lights, they’re so magical! Have you seen the show The Great Christmas Light Fight? It’s on on Mondays and I’m obsessed with it, some people seriously go ALLLL out!

  13. I never even thought of the messes that the “Elf” makes… yeah, who wants more stuff to do during Christmas! YIKES! Glad we dont have to do that.

YIPEE for time off – enjoy it all!

  14. Haha I loved what you said about eating snacks after you kids go to bed. I do the same with my Husband! He will say he doesn’t want any, but the moment he sees me with it, he suddenly needs multiple bites! I don’t get elf on the shelf either, but that’s mostly bc I’m scared of it

  15. Haha this is great! I am the same way about crafts/recipes. If it is a long list of supplies I will pass. I can buy it for what I will spend getting the supplies together. Also, the elf on the shelf creeps me out big time.

    1. Definitely! As much as I enjoy making things, if it’s more economical to buy it, I’m all for it. Thanks for stopping by!

  16. haha i don’t have kids but i super do not understand the elf on the shelf thing. i’m the same with recipes – i would say crafts but i don’t do crafty things – if the list is too long, or one time only things, it aint gonna happen!

    1. Exactly! Everything should be multipurpose in my opinion so I can’t handle the crafts/recipes that call for items that will only be used once. Thanks for stopping by!

  17. YAY for time off! I’m getting some time off next week too and am super happy about it. Your children are super duper adorable Cara, just like their mama! I think it’s 100% acceptable for you to have a treat after a long day of being a working mom! And it’s so cute you and your husband share that time together! Loved this post, hope you are having a great day! XO -Kim

    1. Thanks Kim! I’m ready to just mostly relax and enjoy sleeping in 😉 & Thank-you so much, you’re always so sweet with your comments!

  18. Omgosh, I LOVE Pretty Little Liars! I’m so glad I’m not the only one. I have been watching since the beginning too. My husband thinks I’m crazy, but I really have enjoyed following along! Can’t wait for the return in January 🙂

    1. Me too! What’s sad is I’ve been watching it through most of my boys’ toddler years so they actually know the theme song-haha. Super excited for the new episodes!

  19. There so needs to be a calorie refund!!!! And I laughed so hard at the tie your shoes one!!! I agree that Facebook posts are mostly ridiculous and should never be said in public. Especially when someone says something bad about the spouse. Ummm now you look like the jerk!!!I am reading for PLL to come back on too!!!! And if a recipe or craft has too many things, just nope! Not $92! HahahA! (see what I did there with the A. PLL for life!!!)

    1. Haha, love PLL! Yeah the relationship spills on FB are embarrassing sometimes. I also hate the gross medical information that is shared.

  20. Little kids in glasses are just too darn cute!! I confess that sometimes at home I miss the trashcan, but I know eventually I”m going to be the one that has to pick it up so I feel ok about it, but if i”m somewhere else and I miss, I pick it up! I promise!

    1. Thanks! Haha, that’s completely fine if it’s your own home, but I’m meaning more of in public places. I’ve witnessed it several times here lately, and I guess I just don’t understand people’s laziness. Thanks for stopping by!

  21. So fun Cara!! I hate wasting calories on no good tasting things. It’s like oh I was so excited for that…bite…yuck!! 😉 I don’t get the Elf on a shelf either…..waaaay too busy with other things to worry about putting the elf somewhere creatively like the flour bin with flour all over his face just to have to clean it off again for the next day, lol!! Love that quiet time with hubby and YES for snacks to yourself every once in awhile!!! Happy Wednesday lovely!!

    1. Thank-you! I always subconsciously tell myself that non-good tasting food doesn’t really count as calories- haha Have a wonderful day!

  22. I hate the elf on the shelf. I don’t understand why adults post photos of an elf making a hideous mess every day.

LOL, I would be the worst mom – I do not like to share my food at all!

    1. It makes no sense to me. I have enough messes to clean everyday without purposely making them for “fun”-haha

  23. So jealous you have two more work days before you’re off for a week! And yes to Nutty Bars! I don’t have kids to share them with but if I did, I’d do the same thing. I cannot wait for the return of PLL either!!! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes
