Hey everyone- Happy Wednesday! Today’s fashion look and summer to fall trend to wear is probably my favorite look that I’ve styled in a long time. It’s of course a denim overall dress, and it’s giving me total 90’s vibes!

I know a lot of people dislike overalls and think they look childish, but personally I’ve always been a fan. I think overalls are super cute and when styled correctly they give you that perfect balance of casual and chic with a touch of playfulness.

Naturally, I’m an even bigger fan of denim overall dresses as they add the perfect girly touch to an already cute piece.

Today I’m sharing details on this adorable black denim overall dress and providing tips on how to wear and style a denim overall dress as we transition from summer to fall.

Denim overalls have always been a total wardrobe classic, so when I found this cute black denim overall dress I knew I had to add it to my wardrobe as we transition from summer to fall.

Not only does my denim overall dress pair perfectly with my cute “When Life Gives You Lemons” tee, but the possibilities are endless in the ways you can style it for the seasons.

Tips for Styling a Denim Overall Dress

When it comes to styling a denim overall dress, there are just a couple key things you want to keep in mind. First- you always want to go with a more tight fitting top underneath so that the overall look is well-balanced. Slouchy, loose tops underneath will look –well sloppy, so it’s best to select a form-fitting tank or top to really pull the look together.

My second tip for styling a denim overall dress is to make sure you adjust your straps well. The way the straps are adjusted in the store are not a one-size-fits-all situation, so adjust as needed to fit your height, bust, and shoulders. Ideally your straps should rest comfortably on your shoulders without falling off.

For summer, fitted tanks, bandeau tops, and muscle tanks worn under a denim overall dress offer a cool and causal look, while solid colored tops and graphics tees are perfect for transitioning between seasons. For shoes, you can go with flat sandals or a cute pair of sneakers for a more laid-back look.

As we head into fall, long sleeve tees and bodysuits in fall colors such as orange, mustard, and burgundy are the perfect choice to pair with an overall dress.

Striped tops and off-the-shoulder tops also look chic and you can easily add a scarf or accessories like a layered necklace or hat to really pull the look together. Boots, peep toe booties, or flat mules are all great fall choices to pair with an overall dress.
