Black and White Polka Dot Nails Tutorial

Today I’m really excited to share a simple and fun nail tutorial with you all. Today we’re going to be creating Black and White Polka Dot Nails, and they’re seriously so adorable and easy to create.

I’ve already mentioned once or twice my obsession with nail polish, but today I thought I’d share with you a little secret of mine when creating nail designs. I use the tip of a bobby-pin! A friend of mine told me about it a couple of years ago, and I thought wow what a clever idea, and it seriously works so well!

You can actually use a bobby pin to create polka dots, lines, and hearts, and it works just as well as all those expensive little nail art pens you can buy. And I mean who doesn’t seriously have about 87,000 bobby pins lying around. I know I do! 😉

Step 1: Start by gathering all your supplies to create your black and white nails. You’ll need black nail polish, white nail polish, and a bobby pin. I’m using wet n wild Wildshine Nail Colors.

Step 2: Carefully paint nails with a white base coat.

Step 3: Tilt black nail polish to the side and gently dip the tip of a bobby pin in product. Begin applying black dots to the nail in various sizes. *Pro tip- If you mess up on any of the dots, use a damp q-tip to remove any excess product.

  2. They are so cute! A great option for to use instead of jamberry. Seem simple enough that maybe I could actually do this! Thanks for sharing!

  3. Your black and white nails are so cute!!!! I ordered some nail art tools on Amazon for like $3 and they came from China so they took like a month but I dont care because it was worth it. But who knew you could just use a bobby pin…that was genius!

  4. I love polka dot nails! I was going to do them a few weeks ago but was pressed for time. I need to remember to think about it again!

  6. OMG these are adorable, and even I think that I can do it (on my left hand lol). Polka dots always make me think of spring. Maybe I will do this on my girls this weekend. Thanks for the idea

    1. Thank-you! I went with a neutral look with black and white, but I bet this would look so pretty with all different colors for spring! 🙂

  7. Super cute! A bobby pin is a great idea. I actually bought one of those little tools to use & its REALLY BIG – I dont like the dots – you cant get but like 2 on your nails with it.

    1. Thanks! I’ve heard of people using tooth-picks too, but have never tried it. I like the nail pens you can buy, but they can be pricey, and I figure this is a much cheaper, easy alternative.

  8. I love this! I’ve been meaning to paint my nails for like, three months now. It’s soo hard haha

    1. Thanks! I get like that sometimes too, I won’t paint them for awhile, but I’ve been on a nail-painting kick recently 🙂

  9. Essie is my favorite brand! I am starting getting too the whole painting my nails trend. This is definitely easy but doable!

  10. Adorable! I’m the worst at painting my nails. I get nail polish EVERYWHERE lol. But I bet I could do this one!
