Life Lately- Spring Edition 2018

Hey ya’ll! Hope you had a great weekend. You all seem to really enjoy when I share life updates and family posts, so today I thought I’d share what’s been going on in my world for the last couple months.

To be honest, these last few months have been hard with everything that happened in our family and losing my incredible father-in-law. To date, I’ve been very fortunate to have only lost a few people close to me, but this loss was 100% tragic and unexpected and it’s been very difficult trying to move forward.

Death is of course a subject that most don’t talk a lot about in the blogging community because sometimes I think we all like to portray this perfect, happy, go-lucky life. As a generally positive person, I too don’t really like fixating on the bad in life either, but the fact of the matter is life isn’t perfect and some days are harder than others.

Nevertheless, I’ve really been trying to stay focused on spending as much time with my family as possible lately and not taking any person in my life for granted. Life is so precious and even though we all like to think we have a million years on this earth, we never know what the future holds, so I’m trying to constantly remind myself to focus on what’s really important.

Without jinxing it, we also just received some possible amazing news with our home selling situation- so we’re keeping our fingers crossed that we’ll be able to close one chapter on our lives very soon.

Our boys are officially two weeks away from their school year ending and our youngest just graduated from Kindergarten last week. I’ve been kind of an emotional wreck lately because I keep wondering where the time went. Everyone always says time flies when you become a parent and I must say that I completely agree with that statement now.

Although I’m a little sad that my boys are growing so fast, I’m excited for the summer days ahead in having lots of backyard barbecues, pool days, and some fun vacations. We recently took a trip to the aquarium and fun park for mini golfing, and it was such a blast!

My husband is also officially off of night shift for the next three months, so I’m so pumped to have a great summer together as a family. (Being a police wife is amazing, but the night shift aspect is no fun.) We’re hoping to get in a couple of much needed day-dates and date nights very soon, as we weren’t able to do anything special for our anniversary because of his work schedule.

Here’s some snapshots from our weekend, where the boys helped me make some yummy cookie sticks for a family dinner and we enjoyed swimming in the pool at their Uncle and Aunt’s house with their cousin!

That about covers what’s been going on in our world lately. Hope you all have been having an amazing spring so far. What fun plans do you have for the summer months ahead? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks for stopping by!-Cara

    1. Thanks Mistle and I’m so sorry for your loss too. I think talking about it to others really helps though because bottling it up can be toxic (sharing from first-hand experience). We’re excited to spend more time together this summer and I’m hoping being around family will help with the healing process.
