Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer Review

Today I’m excited to be sharing a full review on a product I’ve been loving for awhile now – The Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer. This concealer has received a lot of buzz over the last year within the beauty community, receiving comparisons to everyone’s holy grail full-coverage concealer – the Tarte Shape Tape.

But does it really live up to the hype? Is it really a dupe for Shape Tape? Keep reading below for the answers and my full thoughts in my Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer Review.

Product Details:

The Makeup Revolution Full Coverage Conceal and Define Concealer collection consists of 24 concealer shades with several undertone options including pink, neutral, yellow, golden, peach, cool, and warm.

This light-weight concealer claims to provide full coverage to help even out skin tone, conceal blemishes and dark circles, and provide a matte finish that won’t settle into fine lines.

The Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer is currently available in two different sizes. The original sized Conceal & Define Concealer is 0.14 oz and costs $7, while The Supersize Concealer is 0.45 oz and costs $10, offering the best value of the two.

Where to Buy: Online at Ulta or at Drugstores

My Thoughts:

First off in terms of formula, I would consider this formula to hold true to being light-weight and it has buildable full coverage. It does an amazing job of covering up blemishes, redness, and dark circles.

It is also a really creamy concealer upon application and it dries down to be very matte. I personally don’t find the formula to be too drying on my skin or undereye area, but I also always make sure to prime my under eye area and use an eye cream daily to lock in moisture. For reference, I have normal to dry skin and use my favorite makeup sponge to apply this product under my eyes.

Second, I’m really impressed with the wide range of shades that this concealer collection has and I love that as a whole more makeup brands are creating concealers and foundations with different undertone options. This makes finding the perfect shade SO much easier and when you get the right undertone for your skin tone it also helps to further color correct any problem spots.

Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer vs. Tarte Shape Tape

Onto the big question- is the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer a dupe for Tarte Shape Tape? For today’s review I did a side-by-side comparison of both products in terms of packaging, formula, and wear. For best comparison, I compared the Supersize Concealer since it is most close in size.

As you can see in the photo above, the products are pretty similar in terms of packaging and both have a doe foot applicator. The Tarte Shape Tape is 0.338 fl oz and costs $29, and the Super Size Conceal & Define Concealer is 0.45 fl oz. and costs $10. In terms of price and value, you’re definitely getting an amazing deal with the Makeup Revolution concealer, considering it is 1/3 of the price of Shape Tape.

Moving onto formula, I swatched the two concealers below and I honestly couldn’t tell a huge difference between the two in terms of coverage and consistency. The undertones in the two shades may look slightly different in the photo, but that’s just because they aren’t exact shade matches.

They were both really creamy upon application and both dried down to a matte finish. I did blend out the two products on my arm with a makeup sponge, and as you can see in the photo they both covered up my bluish-green veins amazingly.

Final Thoughts

So is the Makeup Revolution Concealer a dupe for the Tarte Shape Tape? Although dupes are always a matter of opinion, I declare it a yes! I feel like the two products are very similar and especially when you consider the price point difference, the Makeup Revolution Concealer is worth checking out.

I’ve been using this concealer for over 6 months now and find myself reaching for it daily because it’s THAT good! I mean I included it in my 2018 Best Drugstore Makeup Products if that tells you how much I love it.

Of course, as with all products it’s going to vary person to person, so what works for me may not work for you. That said, if you’ve been wanting to save some $$$ and try out a new full-coverage concealer, give the Makeup Revolution one a try. And if you end up loving it, be sure and tag me on Instagram and let me know! 🙂

  4. I have both and while I really like both. Nothing compares to my shape tape in my opinion. I would same Makeup Revolution is an inexpensive alternative but I feel like its more gel like consistency and Shape Tape is more thick and heavier. I have SUPER dark circles so I need full full coverage. Makeup Revolution is fine for the work week but when I really want my makeup to be on point I use shape tape as it has better coverage for my undereyes.

    1. Totally- I would agree with that. I think Shape Tape is thicker and for some that’s going to be more desirable and for others the Makeup Revolution one might be a better option as it is slightly less drying in the undereye area. Both are still awesome- I just always want to provide more affordable options for those who want it! 😉 And I feel you on the dark circles- ugh I hate my genetics sometimes lol.

  5. I think I’m the last person to try either of these concealers! But I appreciate the comparison because I’m all about saving money – I’ll definitely stick to trying the Makeup Revolution one for now.
