New 2017 Drugstore Makeup Obsessions

Happy Monday! I’m excited to be sharing some of my favorite new drugstore products with you today in my latest beauty haul. In case you’ve noticed these products in-store and have been on the fence, I’m here to help you out with my in-depth reviews of each and am letting you know which are must-haves! Let’s get started!
New Drugstore Makeup- Obsessions + Must-Haves
Flower Shimmer & Strobe Highlighting Palette– This palette is seriously the bomb dot com and I think I’ve found my new makeup line obsession. If I’m being honest, I bought this palette because the packaging is so pretty and not because I necessarily needed another highlighting palette. (Because let’s be honest, I have several amazing ones already) But, I’m oh so happy that I did! If there’s one product I would wholeheartedly recommend to you today, it would be this. The pigmentation is off the charts, the colors are absolutely gorgeous, and I honestly think it would look beautiful on every skin tone. I also really like the brush as well, as it is easy to gently glide over the upper cheekbone for that nice shimmer of highlight.
Flower Beauty Balm BB Cream– Another new purchase from the Flower line is this awesome BB Cream. I was intrigued with this one because it claimed to be full coverage, and full coverage it is. I really liked the blendability of the product, and although it’s full coverage it was very lightweight and made my skin look nice. If you struggle with redness or unevenness, I highly recommend this for giving you that good-looking, even coverage without being too heavy on the skin.
L’Oréal Paris Hydra Genius Glowing Water Cream for Normal/Dry Skin– The weather has been so back and forth in Virginia lately, which has not been fun on my skin. I recently stumbled upon this product at Wal-mart and really liked the sound of some of the claims on the box such as “72 hours of intense and continuous hydration.” I’m excited to report that I’ve been continuously using this product on my face every morning and night for about 2 weeks now and I’ve found a noticeable difference in my skin. It has definitely added hydration to my face, which makes my makeup look so much better. If you have dry skin or if you have normal skin and are looking for a product that will help give you that glowy effect, give this a try.
L’Oréal Paris Infallible Total Cover Foundation– I’ve already noticed a lot of beauty bloggers talk about this product with mixed reviews, but I personally LOVE it. I ran out of one of my high end foundations a few weeks ago, so I turned to this in the meantime and honestly I think it’s just as good if not better than some of the high end full-coverage foundations. I can see this foundation really working for people who struggle with breakouts and blemishes, or for those just wanting that full-face coverage. I would also add that when I use this foundation, I really don’t even have to use a concealer under my eyes, because it’s that good with coverage. 🙂
e.l.f. Aqua Primer Mist– I really like using primer mists when we start hitting warm weather, and this one is nice to spray on the skin before applying makeup. Not only does it help the makeup last longer, but it can even help give you more of a dewy finish which a lot of people prefer in the spring and summer months. I’m loving it and it’s a great inexpensive drugstore option for those looking for a good primer mist.
Wet n’ Wild Color Icon Ombre Blush in The Princess Daquiries and A Purple Haze– Although I realize these have actually been around since 2016, my local drugstores have always been sold out of these until recently where I snatched them up. These are really beautiful colors and add a nice glowy look to the cheeks. Also, don’t let the Purple Haze shade scare you off, it actually ended up being my favorite. Once it’s on the cheeks it’s like a light pink shade that looks so soft and romantic. The Princess Daquiries is also gorgeous in adding a pretty peach tone to the cheeks. I will say you do have to work a little to build up the product on the cheeks, but the shades are so pretty I’d say it’s worth it.
Wet n’ Wild Lash Renegade Mascara- Last but not least, this mascara is awesome! The wand features a multi-planal brush which is great for coating all those teeny tiny lashes on the outer corners, and the fiber formula has great staying power. I found it did a great job at really building up the lashes with a nice looking volume while also separating the lashes for added length. I’ve been reaching for this mascara almost on the daily lately and have been super impressed with the quality all-around.
Have you tried any of these products yet? What other drugstore products are you loving at the moment? Share them with me in the comments! Catch you back here on Wednesday!
Thanks for stopping by!- Cara
That ombre blush looks so interesting!! I’d love to check that out!
Both shades look beautiful on!
Thanks for the recommendations, Cara! I need to stock up on items before the honeymoon so I will definitely check these out!
You’re welcome! Always nice to add a few new pairs of shoes for the season! 🙂
These actually look great. The ombre blush looks really nice. I never really get any make up from drugstores anymore. I’ve reviewed so many and still have a ton of some, but still manage to get some newbies here and there (:
Those are really pretty blushes! I’m loving them!
I love using Elf products. Very nice make-up selections.
Thanks! Elf products are my jam!
Now I want to try that flower palette! It’s so pretty!
Isn’t it gorgeous?!
I always love ELF but I haven’t been able to use wet n wild in a long time! This post just reminded me of it!

They just keep killing it with their products lately. Such a good drugstore line! 🙂
Drugstore makeup buys are my favorite! That highlighter palette looks great!

The Classic Brunette
It is so pretty and pigmented!
I want to try that primer mist! Love drugstore buys personally!
It makes the skin dewy, which is nice especially in the spring and summer months. 🙂
So many great finds! I recently started using infallible and have been loving it too! I’m one of those with not so great skin so this has worked out really well for me. Beautifully Candid
I think you have gorgeous skin, Sierra! 🙂
I’m always afraid of purchasing drug store items because you can’t try before you buy, which is why this post is so helpful.
I don’t know if you Rite Aid Drugstore where you live, but they actually will let you try and return if it isn’t the right color (as far as foundation goes), which is nice. 🙂
love loreals infallible line! such great foundation!
I agree, Steph! It has great coverage!
Thanks for sharing! I’ve been wanting to try the E.L.F. primer, but it’s always out! Also look forward to trying the Wet & Wild Ombre Blush — how fun!
I have that problem too locally. Lol it seems like all the good stuff gets gone quickly! Hopefully you’ll find it soon! 🙂
I have not tried any of these. Thanks for the suggestions!
You’re so welcome! Happy shopping!
I love so many of those brands and you’re so right!
Glad you loved the post! 🙂
Thanks for sharing your favorites with us! I will have to try out that BB cream.
I’ve worn it all week, albeit concealer and have received multiple compliments. Loving it! 🙂
Awesome, i may have to snag a few of these. I don’t wear a lot of makeup. I necer learned how to do mine really. Thats sad isn’t it? Yes it is. I had a twin brother who wouldn’t let me practice on him, hah. Great finds!
Yes, drugstore products are always a good place to start if you’re new to the makeup scene. 🙂
I need to try this elf mist! I’ve heard of more expensive brand ones but haven’t heard of a recommendation for a more affordable one.
Give this one a try! I think it does just as good a job if not better! 🙂
I am interested in the e.l.f. Primer Mist! I also hear great thinks about the Flower Beauty line. The Total Cover Foundation was a miss for me but it def has got many mixed reviews.
I can see how it wouldn’t work for certain skin types, for sure, but it does have great coverage to be drugstore. And I definitely recommend checking out the Flower line at Wal-mart. Drew Barrymore did well! lol
Those blushes look amazing! May have to pick one up!
I really love the peach one for everyday wear! 🙂
I lovelovelove Infallible Pro Glow, so will I like this new L’Oreal one, too?? I HAVE to try it ASAP!!
Coming Up Roses
This one is more of a satin finish and isn’t necessarily a luminous look, but it definitely offers amazing coverage. P.S. Pro Glow is one of my faves for the summer months! 🙂
I love the Flower brand but can never make myself go to Walmart! But I’m so intrigued by the products you shared! Wet n Wild is releasing some new highlighters this week and I cannot wait to order them!
Wet n’ Wild highlighting kit has been my fave for a year now, but honestly this Flower kit just took the lead. It is sooo beautiful! I don’t have the Jaclyn Hill palette but it’s a serious contender as a dupe, I think.
I tend to go for the L’Oreal mascaras. I love their stiletto line. Oh my God, the great thigns you can find at a drugstore makes it worth going there sometimes.
Loreal telescopic is my jam. Like all day, errday lol.
So many pretties! That palette is gorgeous, and I need to try that ELF mist. Cheers to a fabulous week gurlie <3
Green Fashionista
Thank-you! I definitely recommend that palette if you’re looking for a good highlighting kit! 🙂
I don’t think I’ve heard of that Flower brand before but I’m loving the colors on that palette!
They’re exclusive to Wal-mart (made by Drew Barrymore) and their product line is gorgeous! Beyond that though, I’ve been super impressed with the quality. 🙂
Always love the Wet and Wild line. Time to clean out the old make up and get the new for spring.
They really are such a good brand, Candy. Have a great weekend!
You know I love these post of yours! You make me so happy when you do them with your wonderful honest feedback. I’m super excited to try the wet and wild products!
Aw, I’m so glad you enjoy them. I hate for people to waste their money on products that don’t work, so that’s why I’m always 100% honest in my posts. Have a lovely weekend! 🙂
I’m going to try that primer mist…it’s been so hot and humid here!!
It’s nice, especially if you like the glowy foundation look! 🙂
I haven’t tried any of these but I plan to check them out next time I am out shopping!
I’m always like a kid in the candy store when it comes to new drugstore products. You just never know what awesome product you’ll find! lol
Wet ‘n Wild products are so underrated! I have one of their bronzers which is awesome, so I am going to have to go get that blush! And the mascara too!
I agree! They’ve came such a long way over the years, and I love using their products now! 🙂
The ombre blush is gorgeous! I have talc issues so I need talc-free but seriously for Wet & Wild that’s beautiful.
It really is beautiful. I like to swirl my brush in it and it gives such a nice, pretty glow on the cheeks. 🙂
Flower products are always packaged so pretty! I’m going to see if I can find that palette in person to take a look. I’ve been experimenting with another popular drugstore foundation, the NYX drop foundation, and I like it so far! Definitely solid back up when my expensive KVD foundation runs out 🙂
I definitely recommend that palette- it’s gorgeous! I’ll have to give that NYX foundation a try- I wondered if it was any good. 🙂
Glad to hear you liked the L’Oreal foundation — I’m not too fond of it, it just didn’t work all that great on me, I LOVE the Pro Matte one though, that one is awesome!

Beauty With Lily
Yes, that’s the thing with beauty products, we all have to find things that work for our own unique skin type and texture. And thanks so much! 🙂
I really am impressed with the ELF products & love trying out new things with them since its not costing an arm or leg
I agree! I’ve yet to try out their blush palette but I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews on it!
Budget friendly items are my fave!
Mine too, Bonnie!
I really want to try that priming mist! I love using primers, but sometimes I feel like they clog my pores so I have to wash my face extra diligently whenever I wear them! I bet the mist wouldn’t feel so clogging though, I’ll have to give it a try!
Yeah, I really like it because I feel like it just adds a bit more moisture to the skin, which is nice. 🙂
I’m a big Sephora fan but it’s just not always financially feasible to buy from there. Thank you for always giving a great run-down on beauty finds that are reasonably priced! I really want to try Elf now.
You’re welcome! Yes, sephora is only an every once in awhile thing for me lol. I’m all about high quality, inexpensive products. 🙂
I’ve had my eye on those ombre brushes! They are so pretty. I’ve heard good things about the Flower setting powder, too!
Oh I haven’t tried that yet, but I’ll add it to the list. I was so drawn in to the line because of the packaging but surprisingly everything has been awesome quality thus far! 🙂
I love anything Elf! I have not tried primer mist, but I am adding to my list when I need a new primer! Thanks for the recommendations!
You’re welcome! It’s nice to have in the summer months when you want more of glowy looking skin. 🙂
I’m loving the infalliable coverage. I started using it about a week ago and can’t get enough. You’re right it totally covers my dark circles and more, and I think it feels really light.
Agreed! At first when I squeezed it out of the tube I was worried it would be thick and heavy on the skin, but it is so light, yet it has amazing coverage! 🙂
That Flower palette is so pretty! Glad to hear it’s not just all pretty packaging and it actually a great product too. Definitely checking it out! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes
Yes, it’s both gorgeous and has awesome pigmentation, so I’ll say that’s a win-win! 🙂
I definitely have to check out that primer mist. I use a MAC one right now but this sounds like a good inexpensive alternative!
Yes, I’ve been loving it so far! Always nice to find a cheaper alternative! 🙂
I’ve never seen Flower Beauty sold anywhere 🙁 I guess I need to hit Walmart? I haven’t tried any of these but I’m not surprised that you love the Wet N Wild blushes. They do really well with blush! I’m still on a buying freeze but will definitely pick some of these up based on your rec!
Have a great week friend!
Yes they are sold exclusively at Wal-mart, I believe. So far I’ve been super impressed with both products from them, so will probably eventually try some other things from that line. They have some beautiful looking blushes as well! 🙂
I need to checkout a primer mist, especially as we’re already in the 80s in FL. Definitely could be helpful as it gets hotter and more humid!!
I’ve really been liking this one so far!
OMG! I love finding cheaper alternatives especially when they are in convenient places. Thanks for sharing these! I never have time to go out and look for stuff like this.
You’re welcome! Happy to help! 🙂
