Time is Precious-Don’t Let It Be Stolen

Last week I was at a conference, and I heard one of the most inspiring statements that really hit home with me. He said, “Your time is precious, so don’t fill it with things that bring you no benefit whatsoever.” When I heard him say these words, it was like the wake-up call I had needed to hear for so long, and I thought to myself, “You know what? He’s absolutely right!”

Time is the most precious commodity we are given, and it too often goes wasted. Wasted on negativity, wasted on things that don’t matter, wasted on things that serve no positive purpose whatsoever, but once that time has been taken, it’s gone.

As I sat in my chair I started to think about all of the times in the last year that I’ve let my time be stolen away from me. Time that could have been spent focused on my children and husband and could have been put towards something I love, was stolen away from me due to someone else’s ignorance.

And I think we all deal with that. We all have people in our lives that unwelcomingly steal our time away from us. But at that moment, I decided no more. From now on, I will be the controller of my own time, and I refuse to let someone else, someone who I have no respect for whatsoever waste my time. Because at the end of the day we make our own choices and we decide our own fate. We can choose who is in our lives and who isn’t, and if someone brings nothing but negativity to your life, then they don’t deserve to be part of it, and they definitely don’t deserve your precious time.

So it is my hope for you that you will also be mindful of your time and not let others steal it from you. Time is truly precious and although it may seem like you have all of the time in the world, each of our days are numbered here on earth. If you take nothing else away from this, I hope that you will live each day like it is your last, cherish the moments you have been given each day, and make sure that your time is spent doing what you love with the people you love.

Boast not thyself of tomorrow for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth (Proverbs 27:1 KJV)

  1. Hi Cara!

Truer words were never spoken: “be mindful of your time”. Giving too much away just drains you in the end.

And I wanted to respond to your sweet comment today…you came up as a no-reply blogger. Thanks for reading and commenting. It’s so nice to know that *someone* has gained *something* from my ramblings 🙂 I’m glad you also have a blog I can check out!

    Have a good Wednesday!

    1. Thanks so much for commenting, Kristin! I really do enjoy reading your blog and I appreciate you taking the time to follow mine. Also, thanks for the heads up on the no-reply blogger setting. I think I fixed it now!

      1. Remember to always take time to spend with the little ones everyday. If we get too busy you will turn around and they will be grown. I miss my older brother and wish many times I would have spent time with him or my Dad. I wish I would have spent more time with you and your 2 older brothers. Love you guys.
