How to Make Graduation Cap Mason Jars
How do you make Graduation Mason Jars?
Making graduation mason jars are SO easy and you thankfully only need just a few supplies which I’ve included below.
Supplies Needed:
- Small Mason Jars
- Chalkboard Labels
- Black Foam Sheet
- Black Ribbon or Personalized Graduation Ribbon
- Hot Glue Gun/Glue
- Clear Tape
- Red Satin Floss (or color of choice)
What size mason jar works best for graduation cap mason jars?
You can use any size mason jar for these graduation jars, but I personally recommend using wide mouth pint mason jars like these.
Depending on what you put in your jars, wide mouth jars are going to be a lot easier to fill and will be easier for your graduate to reach down into.
Alternatively, you can use regular mason jars like these.
What do you give kids for graduation in their graduation cap mason jars?
When it comes to these graduation mason jars, the possibilities are truly endless when it comes to filling them.
The obvious choice is of course money or the grad’s favorite candy, but I encourage you to really personalize your gift for the recipient and their own personal interests.
Here’s just a few other fun and special ideas:
- Money
- Gift Cards
- Candy
- Graduation Wish Cards – Have family members/friends fill out with words of wisdom
- Baked Cookies (Check out my delicious homemade cookie recipes here)
- Homemade Brownie/Cookie Mix
- Candied Nuts
- Bath Salts/Sugar Scrub (these individual candy sugar scrubs are my favorite and would fit perfectly!)
- Travel-Size Makeup Products (these are my drugstore makeup favorites)
- Tealight Candles
Can I Use These as Mason Jar Graduation Centerpieces?
Yes! These would look so cute as centerpieces at any graduation party, and of course the graduates/guests can then take them home as a fun party favor!
Step By Step Tutorial: DIY Graduation Cap Mason Jars
Supplies Needed:
- Small Mason Jars
- Chalkboard Labels
- Black Foam Sheet
- Black Ribbon or Personalized Graduation Ribbon
- Hot Glue Gun/Glue
- Clear Tape
- Red Satin Floss (or color of choice)
DIY Graduation Cap Mason Jar – Step 1:
Grab a small mason jar like this, and adhere ribbon with hot glue to cover the rim of the jar.
Secure at the end with more glue and cut away excess with scissors.
DIY Graduation Cap Mason Jar – Step 2:
Cut black foam sheet into small squares that will create the graduation cap top.
Apply hot glue on top of the mason jar lid and press firmly to secure.
DIY Graduation Cap Mason Jar – Step 3:
Create a tassle using Red Satin Floss (or another colored floss) by gathering several threads together and tying off the top with a long piece of thread.
For added security I tied this off twice.
DIY Graduation Cap Mason Jar – Step 4:
Using the excess thread that you tied the top with, form a small circle on top of the jar and secure with hot glue.
Cut out a small black foam circle and hot glue to the top center of your graduation cap to create a button.
DIY Graduation Cap Mason Jar – Step 5:
Decorate the jars as desired with chalkboard labels and fill with candy, dollar bills, or other special + creative goodies to gift to your graduate!
I personally love these graduation wish cards that you and your family members or friends can fill out to give the graduate in their jars.
