Jesus is The Reason for The Season
Overwhelmed from all the exhausting, worldly holiday traditions? Re-shift your focus this Christmas and remember: Jesus is the Reason for the Season.

Jesus the Reason for the Season
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, I’m sure by now you’ve probably heard the phrase “Jesus is the reason for the season” proclaimed everywhere during the Christmas season.
You see it on coffee mugs, pillows, Christmas decorations, and plastered on church billboards around the country, reminding us the real reason we should celebrate Christmas.
And while I love and wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment, I can’t help but wonder how many Christians are actually living it out these days.
Today I want to ask you to get honest with yourself – is Jesus the Reason for the Season in your life?
Distracted by The Enemy
John 10:10 says “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10 NKJV)
The enemy has turned the Christmas season into his “busy” playground and many Christians are falling for it left and right.
Instead of fixing our eyes on Jesus, we’re distracted by everything but him.
The Sad Truth
Many Christians love to proclaim that “Jesus is the reason for the season!”
But for most the Christmas season is filled to the brim with worldly and secular traditions that have nothing to do with Jesus or celebrating his birth.
We overbook, overspend, and overwhelm ourselves to the point of exhaustion in the name of “traditions” that don’t honor or glorify Christ.
I know this firsthand because I sadly spent way too many years obsessing over things that didn’t matter instead of making Christmas all about Jesus.
The Good News
I say all of this not to shame anyone, but to invite you to a better way.
While the enemy aims to steal, kill, and destroy us, Jesus came so that we may have life more abundantly with him.
We don’t have to blindly follow what the rest of the world does and live a life stressed out, overwhelmed, and exhausted.
Instead, we can live a life where Jesus is our everything in both the Christmas season AND every season.
A Heart Shift
Our family’s Christmas season changed entirely over the last 5 years and it’s all because we shifted our focus to The One.
Instead of fixing my eyes and my heart on the fleeting things of this world, I re-shifted my focus and fixed my eyes on Jesus.
I turned my heart toward him and now focus on serving him and honoring him in everything I say and do.
Am I perfect? No.
But every day is an opportunity to choose Jesus over the world.
You’re Invited
If you’re tired from all the striving this is your official invitation to make this Christmas (and every Christmas after) all about Jesus.
I can’t tell you the amount of people I’ve talked to who are so completely overwhelmed with the Christmas season that they want to skip it altogether.
But skipping Christmas isn’t the answer – it’s turning away from what the world has made Christmas about and turning back to the only one it’s truly about – Jesus.
Jesus is THE reason for the season and Jesus is THE reason for EVERY season.
