L.A. Colors Lip Lust Gloss Holiday Gift Set Review

Happy Friday Everyone!

L.A. Colors Lip Lust Holiday Gift Set Review

Each holiday season all of the makeup brands release cosmetic gift sets, and I’m always intrigued to see if they are worth it or not. I recently noticed this gift set in my local Rite Aid, and with such a low price tag I knew I had to give it a try.

I recently used a few of the L.A. Colors eye shadows for the first time in creating my Halloween Mermaid Look and was really impressed with the quality, texture, and pigmentation of the shadows, so I definitely wanted to test out their lip products as well.

Clear Gloss Coat

Lip gloss review

I applied this to my bare lips and it gave them a nice, glossy sheen. It does have small glitter particles in it, so if that isn’t your thing, you may not like this particular one. I think the intention of this gloss is to apply it over the 7 other shades. I did not do this in the photos, but I’m sure it would do a nice job of adding a pretty sheen to the lips.

Bubblegum Pink

Lip gloss review

I normally love light pink’s but I was not a fan of this particular shade, once applied. The consistency was very milky/chalky and I had to apply almost 3 coats to get it to even cover my lips. My favorite light pink lip gloss is NYX Butter Gloss in Merengue, and I would definitely recommend it over this one any day. This one gets a thumbs down for me!

Very Berry

lip gloss review

After the previous shade, I was hoping the next one would be better and I have to say I love this shade! It’s such a rich, pretty color for all seasons and it glided on seamlessly. Thumbs up on this one!

Hot Pink Fuchsia

lip gloss review

Another beautiful shade, and right up my alley in terms of color preferences. This was one of my favorites from the bunch, for sure. Thumbs up!

All-American Red

lip gloss review

I always tend to go for red shades with blue undertones, and this one is gorgeous! The application of this shade was pretty easy as well, and I did not even have to apply lip liner. Thumbs up!

Peachy Rose

lip gloss review

Another beautiful shade in the bunch. Would be beautiful paired with a sultry, smokey eye. Thumbs up!

Dark Wine

lip gloss review

I really wanted to like this shade, but unfortunately it fell pretty flat. When I applied it to my lips, it kept moving from one end to the other with the wand and it would not stay put or ever absorb into the lips. I also had to apply several coats to get the coverage pictured here. Again, I normally would be all about a deep lip color but due to the consistency this one gets a thumbs down.

lip gloss review

Last but certainly not least, this nude shade impressed me a lot. I was expecting it to be similar consistency to the Bubblegum Pink shade that was a flop, but this one had great coverage in one swipe and is such a pretty neutral color for both day or night looks. Thumbs up!

The Lowdown:

All in all I liked this lip gloss set and with the exception of Bubblegum Pink and Dark Wine, all of the colors had great coverage and are truly beautiful shades. It’s also a great deal that you’re getting 8 lip glosses for $5 (That’s only 62.5 cents each!)

If you happen to have a friend or family member that loves lip glosses and you are looking for an inexpensive gift for them, I would definitely recommend this gift set. You could even purchase the set and give out a couple of lip glosses to several people for stocking stuffers. Leave me a comment if there are other low priced gift sets you would like me to review!

Thanks for stopping by! -Cara

    1. They really are! I always like trying out different brands to see what they’re all about, and I’m very impressed!

    1. Thanks! This was the second time I’ve used this brand, but I’m actually really pleased! They’re starting to sell more of their products in Target now, too. πŸ™‚

  2. These look like a great set – I wonder if they do them in the UK? I think the cappuccino and bubble gum pink are my favourite πŸ™‚

  3. I really like the deeper shades on you like the Very Berry and Dark Wine. Bummer on the wine one being a weird consistency.

    1. Thank-you! It was actually the one I was most excited to try. I really liked the Very Berry shade, though!
