New E.l.f. Products Review

elf makeup review

Hey Everyone! Today I’m reviewing some of e.l.f.’s newest makeup products. I currently own several e.l.f. products and I’m always really impressed with the quality of their products and the low cost. I recently purchased all of these items online during e.l.f.’s 40% off sale, so I was able to get some really awesome deals. Let’s get started.

elf hydrating under eye primer review

Hydrating Under Eye Primer (Clear) 0.35 oz. -$3

I purchased this product after seeing all of the rave reviews on its website, and I’m always on the hunt for an under eye primer that will help with keeping my concealer in check.

This product claims that it primes the under area to help prevent concealer from setting into fine lines, and also claims to reduce the appearance of fine lines, puffiness, and wrinkles. It is infused with Vitamin C & E, Shea, Green Tea, Aloe, and Ginkgo Biloba to nourish and hydrate skin.

First off, I will say that this primer truly feels amazing on the skin. It is such a creamy consistency that literally glides onto the skin and leaves the skin feeling super soft. But as far as effectiveness for me in particular, I have yet to see it actually do what it claims to do.

So far, I have tried out this product twice and that I can tell it really doesn’t do much in preventing my concealer from setting into fine lines. Do I think this product works for some skin types? Absolutely. Unfortunately, mine was not one of them, but by all means give this a try if your under eye area is currently giving you troubles. If nothing else, I do think it is very hydrating for the skin.

elf baked highlighter review

Baked Highlighter- Pink Diamonds 0.17 oz– $3

I’m not sure if this product is actually new or not, but it’s new to me. It looked so gorgeous in the picture online and I really like baked blushes/highlighters. They also have two other shades including blush gems, and moonlight pearls, but were sold out of those at the time.

It is infused with Vitamin E, Jojoba, Sunflower, Apricot, and Grape to nourish and hydrate the skin. It can be worn wet for an intensified look or dry for a subtle shimmer.

I did try this product out both dry and wet, and when applied dry it is subtle. When I applied it dry, it was so subtle that the only way I could even begin to see its shimmer was by first applying a matte blush or bronzer underneath. I think this has to do with its light pink shade, but I did want to make you aware of its subtlety.

I also applied it wet, and was very impressed with the pigmentation and the pretty, shimmery color that it adds to the cheekbones. This application can be seen in the picture above.

elf brush reviews

Contouring Brush & Ultimate Blending Brush -$6 each

I am a huge fan of e.l.f. makeup brushes and both of these are brand new to the e.l.f. professional brush collection. The Contouring Brush is recommended for the application of bronzer powder, liquid, and creams, and the Ultimate Blending Brush is recommended for the application of liquid, powder, or mousse foundation, bronzer, or blush.

I was really impressed with both brushes, but for different reasons. The contouring brush is perfect for sculpting and further defining cheekbones and is perfect for those of you who are all about contouring. It could also be used to delicately apply highlighter to the cheekbones.

The Ultimate Blending Brush is what most impressed me, though. It can be used for everything from applying and blending foundation, applying blush, or can be used for contouring and highlighting. The feel of this brush is also amazingly soft and for $6, I highly recommend this one for a versatile, multi-use makeup brush.

elf matte lip pencil reviews

Matte Lip Color Lip Pencils .05 oz (l-r) Dash of Pink, Wine, Berry Sorbet, Tea Rose -$3 each

I cannot say enough great things about these lip pencils. They have great color pigmentation, a nice, light scent, and they feel incredible on the lips! The formula contains Vitamin A, C, and E to keep the lips moisturized and hydrated, and my lips still feel silky even hours after application.

The application of these lip pencils is so easy and would be a great choice for someone who is new to makeup and may not yet have the application of lipsticks down pat, as it is similar to applying lip liner. I also really like the size and shape of these lip pencils as it makes it very convenient for throwing in your purse or makeup bag for traveling. I definitely recommend these for anyone who loves matte lip colors! Below are the swatches of all of the colors I purchased.

  3. I have not heard of Elf I will need to see if we have them in the UK, but loving the baked highlighter it looks great on you 🙂

  4. I love elf products! Thanks for showing and sharing these products in particular. I’m a little bummed about the eye primer… I am in need of something like that but with better results.

    1. You’re so welcome! If I find a good eye primer I’ll be sure to share it with everyone. Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Those lip pencils look amazing! Right now I can’t buy e.l.f. in store near me, but I’m moving next year so I can then.

Shame about that under eye concealer, it is such a great idea, I want crease free under eyes!

    1. That will be great to be able to buy elf products! And I know, it was a wonderful concept but unfortunately it didn’t work for me. I think we all want crease free under eyes-haha 🙂

  6. Oh girl, you know I love me some e.l.f. products and you got some great ones! I haven’t tried the pink diamonds highlight but that is a lovely color on you! Hope you are having a great start to your week gorgeous girl! XO -Kim

    1. Thanks Kim! I’ve heard good things about the other two highlight shades as well. Have a wonderful wednesday!

    1. It was reviewed really well, it just didn’t personally work for my skin type. Let me know if you try it out! Thanks for stopping by 🙂

    1. Yes, that was the one I saw on the website and I thought it looked so gorgeous, but it was sold out 🙁 Will be trying it soon for sure!

  7. I lovelovelove e.l.f. brushes. I buy new ones a couple of times a year. As much as I swear this isn’t a sales pitch, I’ve tried undereye concealer and it doesn’t work for me. I feel like the only way is treating the dark circles and potential wrinkles, so I do use my own R+F eye cream. Works wonders.

    1. I’ll have to look into that Kristin, I’m always on the hunt for something to help lessen my dark circles and not necessarily just camouflage it. Thanks for the recommendation.

  8. okay, the elf matte lippies are BY FAR some of the best lip products on the market! I LOVE LOVE LOVE them, and Wine & Tea Rose are so good! They are so pigmented and incredibly hydrating! I love elf’s new highlighting palette!

    1. I really like the ease of application and the colors are very pigmented. I haven’t tried their new highlighting palette but I’m eager to give that one a try very soon. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Louise, I also wanted to let you know that I’ve tried leaving a couple of comments on your blog and unfortunately it always says that my comment cannot be posted for some reason. Just didn’t want you to think I wasn’t returning the blog love. Have a great day!

  11. LOVED this review! I have a couple Elf products and have been fairly happy with them. What I love is how affordable it is. AND, I have been wanting to purchase their brushes because they are such a great price, but wasn’t sure if it would work well. -Linh

    1. Thank-you! Yes, I highly recommend elf brushes, they are excellent quality and inexpensive= win-win! Thanks for stopping by!

  12. I am loving the different lip colors – so pretty!! I am learning more and more that throwing some color on my lips really makes a big difference!

  13. Nice review! Those lip pencils sound AWESOME. I like that it’s becoming the trend—so much easier to apply than traditional lipstick shapes!

    1. Sorry to hear that, Sarah. I would definitely recommend you to try out another shade, as I loved all of these! It can be hard choosing colors online, though, and I do wish that more of these were sold in-store so you could see the color in person.

  14. I love the E.L.F. brand and the lip crayons are amazing. Love all the colors your purchased but the wine is my favorite.

  15. Those lip pencils are fantastic!! I love all the colors. I’m always look for a new under-eye primer (especially this time of year with all the craziness!), so I need to go pick that one up. e.l.f. is one of my favorite brands, especially for the price!

  16. I used to buy Elf when I was in middle school and it was $1, then last week was the first time I’ve seen it in years, in CVS! I was wondering if it got better and what I should try. I’ll definitely be purchasing some of these =)

    1. I definitely think it has evolved to be an awesome beauty company! I’m most impressed with their makeup brushes, blushes, and lip products. They also have some very good eyeshadow palettes as well.

  17. ELF products are great when you want to try something new because they won’t break the bank. I am mad I didn’t think to buy an ELF contour brush, I spent WAY more than I should have on one at sephora.

    1. I was really impressed with it! & I agree even if it is a miss, you don’t feel as bad when you’ve only spent $5 compared to spending $20-$30 with other brands.

  18. Gorgeous look on you girl! ELF products are fabulous and at such a great price point, you can’t go wrong. Especially loving that baked highlighter – so pretty <3
