My Current Daily Makeup Routine

Current Daily Makeup Routine

I always think it’s fun to see what people’s daily beauty routine is, so today I’m sharing my latest daily makeup routine. This is what you can find me doing on most work days, but of course I switch up my routine constantly depending on what I have going on at work, and typically I play around with my makeup looks on the weekends and for special occasions.

Most of the products I use in my daily routine I’ve mentioned on my blog before, so I’ll link to those original posts below!

My Current Daily Makeup Routine

  1. First, I apply moisturizer all over the face and neck area. Depending on the dryness level of my skin I either apply Coconut Oil Moisturizing Cream (review here) or my Garnier Moisture Rescue Gel Cream (review here).
  2. Next, I fill in my brows using NYX Tame and Frame Brow Pomade, because I believe no matter how much makeup you wear, your eyebrows are such an important feature on your face and need to be taken care of.
  3. Using my NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Crayon in Milk I dab a small amount of primer on my eyelids and rub it in until well blended.
  4. Next, I apply a light neutral eyeshadow color all over the eyelids, and incorporate a slightly darker shade in the crease, sweeping back and forth until well blended. Occasionally I’ll also add an additional darker shade on the outer corner of the eyelid for a more dramatic look. My go to palette right now is the Lorac Pro 2 Palette, and I love using the shades buff, light brown, and cool gray).
  5. Using Rimmel’s 9-in-1 BB Cream (review here), I apply 4 small dots of product on my face in the t-zone area, and blend evenly with my Real Techniques Face Sponge.
  6. Next, I set my under eye area with the highlighting powder from Wet n’ Wild’s Powder Contouring Kit (review here) and apply a tiny amount underneath my nose and on my chin area.
  7. Using Elf’s Contour Brush (review here) I do what I call a “quick contour” with the Wet n’ Wild Contour Kit. (i.e. I apply the dark shade to my cheekbones, brow bones, and to the sides of my nose, blending well for a natural look)
  8. Using Jordana’s Powder Blush in Rose Silk, I lightly apply blush to the apples of my cheeks.
  9. Next, I apply 2 coats of black mascara to my top and bottom eyelashes. My go to mascara is Loreal Telescopic Mascara.
  10. Last but not least, I choose a shade of lipstick and apply all over the lips. On a typical day it’s usually a neutral pink shade such as Wet n’ Wild Dollhouse Pink.

  5. Moisturizer and eye cream then foundation. I have been loving the model and Co foundation and then I do eyeshadow then concealer then blush and light contouring followed upby powder then finish with eyeliner amd mascara. 🙂

    1. It works really well! I’m always thoroughly impressed with the elf brushes, especially considering the price point. 🙂

  6. I love hearing about people’s beauty routines and I’d love to see yours on a video/tutorial. Have you ever thought about doing one?

    1. Yes, thank-you! I’d love to start doing video tutorials, I just have to find the time to sit down and do it. Hopefully soon! 🙂

  7. I need to find a good eyebrow product. I’m having a hard time finding a good color that isn’t too light or too dark.

    1. The NYX product was the first one I found that matched my brow color. Most blonde ones are usually too dark or have a reddish tint to them which doesn’t match at all.

  8. Love this Cara! I always enjoy hearing other people’s routines. I have always been a Bare Minerals girl and I recently got the HAC pack by Masckara to try out… i’ll be posting about it soon but it is a total game changer! I am loving it!

    1. Thanks! Oh can’t wait to see the review of that, I’ve heard great things 🙂

  9. Sounds like a great routine! Simple and classic. I need to start working on my makeup game!

    1. I like keeping it simple during the week and then going for more glammed up looks on the weekend when I have more time 🙂

  10. I’m lucky that I don’t have to wear make-up every day, as I work from home.

But that doesn’t mean I don’t care for my skin—wash twice a day, moisturize and sunscreen!

    1. That’s so important to take care of your skin! As I’ve gotten older I’ve really realized the importance of wearing a good moisturizer with spf in it 🙂

    1. I do love wearing a winged liner too, but on my rush off to work days I usually skip that step. You have gorgeous skin, so I can see why you don’t have to do much 🙂

  13. Love your makeup – you skin looks so flawless! I need to get into using eye primer – I usually go straight from moisturizer to my CC cream and eyeshadows but I’ve definitely noticed that my makeup stays on longer (and looks better!) when I use a primer.

    1. Some mornings I’ll spend a little bit more time doing my eye makeup, but this is pretty much the basic look on work days. I like keeping it simple too 🙂

    1. Thank-you! I always think evening out the skin on the face is so important, so I love your routine 🙂

  24. My makeup routine is very similar to yours! I love highlighting powder! It is one product I cannot live without, because it disguises my tired eyes! Thank you for sharing your routine and the products you use! I am going to have to try a few of these.

    1. You’re welcome! I just put some on my face and it smells so good right now-haha makes me want coconut cake 😉

  25. I am a big fan of the Rimmel BB Cream and have been using it for quite some time now. I just bought the Real Techniques sponge last night! I had a beauty blender before but I got tired of paying $20 for something I have to throw out in a few months. I hope I like this one just as much, I am loving my RT brush! That Lorac palette looks so pretty…I totally need to get it! Love your look 🙂

    1. Thank-you! Seriously the rimmel bb cream is soo good! I’m always shocked at the amount of coverage it provides, yet it feels so lightweight on the skin. Enjoy your RT sponge! 🙂

  26. Your so right about eyebrows, they are the widow box to the face. Have never tried NYX I must. The whole look is great. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thank-you! I agree, eyebrows are so important! Filled in ones can dramatically change a person’s appearance too 🙂

  27. Interesting to know the routine of other women, I always learn something. Am in need of new mascara, think I will check out Loreal telescopic

    1. It’s really good at separating the lashes and lengthening them. It’s my fave 🙂

  28. You look very pretty! You are using some of my favorite products, like the e.l.f. brush and Wet N’ Wild lipstick.
Lately, my routine has been: consider putting on makeup, say “nah”, walk away! Lol! Normally, though, I start with moisturizer, then prime and do my eyes, powder, blush, mascara. I don’t play around much with contouring or highlighting, but I should. I did makeup professionally for several years, so I guess I got burned out and lazy! Lol! Thanks for sharing your routine!
