January Beauty Favorites

January Favorites Kindly Unspoken

I’m excited today to be starting a monthly favorites series on hair and beauty products that I’m loving at the moment. I always enjoy reading these types of posts on other blogs, and thought it might be helpful if I shared my favorites each month as well.

Jcat Fab Five Eyeshadow Palette

JCat Fab Five Eyeshadow Palette in Wild Orchard $4.99, Ulta

First up is this amazing eyeshadow palette by JCat Beauty. I had never heard of this brand before, but I immediately fell in love with the colors when I noticed it during an Ulta B1G1 50% off sale.

If you haven’t already figured out, I am a lover of pinks and purples, and I actually used this palette to create the makeup look I wore in my Valentine’s Day Outfit post.

Suave Dry Shampoo

Suave Professionals Refresh and Revive Dry Shampoo $2.88, Wal-mart

Next up is this amazing dry shampoo by Suave. I’ll just go ahead and confess that up until the last year or so, I would wash my hair every other day. Normal, right? Well, not exactly. If you’re like me and you color treat your hair (I get highlights every 3 months), it is recommended that you only wash your hair 2-3 times a week total.

This is due to the fact that washing your hair frequently will strip your hair of its natural oils which make your hair appear shiny and healthy, and depending on the type of shampoo you use, your color will fade more quickly.

Insert dry shampoo, the saving grace in-between washes. Dry shampoo is able to soak up excess oil and grease in your hair, leaving you with beautiful, manageable locks.

I was about ready to give up on drugstore dry shampoos until I tried this product, and voila it works! It smells great, is very easy to use, (just point and spray about 6 inches away from the scalp and brush through hair), and helps my hairstyles maintain their integrity so much longer.

Also, can we just rejoice at the price of it? I mean if I can find a hair product that works amazing for less than $3, that’s a major score in my book. Highly recommend!

Hard Candy Fireball Nail Polish

Hard Candy Crystal Confetti Nail Polish in Fairyball $4, Wal-mart

Recently I have began obsessing with glittered nail polishes. I don’t know what it is but I see them in the makeup section and I’m immediately drawn to the pretty, sparkly shades. This nail polish is absolutely gorgeous in real-life. I recently shared a photo of the nail polish on my Instagram, but seriously the picture does not do it justice.

It’s a light pink and dusty base coat mixed with all of these gorgeous pink and white specks, and it is simply beautiful. I don’t typically spend $4 on nail polish, but in this case it was completely worth it.

Jordana Gemstones Nailpolish

Jordana Glitter Nail Polish in Gemstone $0.99, K-mart

Almost a week after purchasing the Hard Candy nail polish, I stumbled across this gorgeous specimen. I spent last Friday night applying this polish to both my nails and toe nails and when I was finished I was so giddy with excitement that I seriously felt like I was in junior high all over again.

It is absolutely stunning and reminds me a lot of birthday party confetti. Your nails will definitely get noticed with this  nail polish, and you will most likely receive a ton of compliments on it.

I also want to add that above all, the quality is excellent! I’ve had this polish on for a week now and with applying two coats I have had zero chips. Mind you, I spend most of my days typing up a storm on a computer, so that should be a good indication of the quality.

Garnier Moisture Rescue Lotion

Garnier Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream for Dry Skin $6.99, Wal-mart

Last but not least is one of my favorite winter moisturizers for my face. I naturally have dry skin and in the winter months my skin literally needs all the extra moisture help it can get. I apply this product to my face every morning when I wake up prior to applying makeup, and every evening before bed.

The gel cream feels so good on the skin and trust me when I say a little of this goes a long way. I typically only apply about a nickle size of product allover my face, and my skin is left feeling moisturized all day. Garnier also makes a moisture rescue version for normal skin types as well, so I highly encourage to give it a go if you’re looking for a great, light-weight moisturizer.

So there you have it, those are all my favorite beauty and hair products for the month of January and I hope you’ll give some of these a try! I’m off for a fun-filled day today with my husband and boys, and tomorrow is my youngest son’s 4th birthday.

The waterworks will probably hit me at some point today, so please say a prayer for this emotional Mama. It was seriously just yesterday he was a tiny baby!

  1. Dry shampoo is a real lifesaver in my household! While I absolutely adore Living Proof and tend to buy it in bulk when there’s a discount available, it can be a bit pricey. For more budget-friendly options you can try on beautysupplie.com

    1. If you can catch it on sale at Ulta, it’s a really inexpensive small kit! I really loved the pigmentation of the colors. 🙂

  5. I’m going to have to try that gel cream! I’m trying to get into a good skincare routine. & happy birthday to your little boy!

  6. I love that Suave dry shampoo too! Its totally JUST as good as the expensive kinds I have tried. And it doesn’t get all cakey and white.

  7. Happy Birthday to your son!!! How adorable! I have been looking for a dry shampoo to use because I wash my hair every day. I don’t like the thought of my hair even being oily at all. I of course was told about a higher end dry shampoo from my hair stylist but I will have to check out the Suave one too! That palette looks so pretty! I have received some of their products before in my Ipsy bags. Thank You for sharing these great finds!

    1. Thank-you! I didn’t either at first, it seemed weird to me to wash my hair so little, but after about a month your scalp gets used to it and stops producing as much oil. It really helps my hair remain healthier and helps my color last a lot longer.

  8. The Suave Dry Shampoo is my favorite one…it is the best I have ever used! And you can’t be the price haha! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  9. You can pull off the pinks. With my red hair, I look like a clown 🙂

I love glitter nail polish because it does last – but man, its a booger to get off.

    Score for cheap hair products!!!!

  10. What a cutie you have there! I love the nailpolish, that would make me have a good day each time I looked down to see it!

  11. I have been fascinated by the idea of a dry shampoo for sometime now, but I’ve never tried one out. Thank you for recommending Suave. I wash my hair every single day, but now I’m thinking about the possibility of trying this product. And I love, love the sparkly nail polish. Happy 4th birthday to your tiniest son!

    1. I used to wash my hair every day or every other day too and later found out that was what was making my hair so dry and it definitely made my color fade quickly. Using dry shampoo is great for the in-between days! & Thank-you!

  12. First off, happy birthday to your sweet littlest boy! Dry shampoo is a life saver. I have very fine, thin hair and always had to wash my hair daily because it got greasy easily and was very obvious. Once I had Mila, I had no time to wash and dry my hair daily. I discovered dry shampoo and haven’t look back since. I wash my hair twice a week now (maybe 3 times if we’re going out and I want it to look especially nice).
(And P.S. I always select “Notify me of follow-up comments by email” and I never get them – just wanted to let you know!)

    1. Thank-you! I agree, it is a life-saver! & that’s strange, I’m not sure why it’s not working. I recently changed my commenting system to where you can choose to be notified of replies, so maybe try selecting that one instead? Sorry about that!

  13. Dry shampoo is the unsung hero of my house. I LOVE Living Proof and I stock up on that when I can get a percentage off, but it is really $$. I like Not Your Mother’s and Suave too.

    Happy birthday to your boy!!

  14. Look at that sweet lil man!!! Happy 4th angel boy!! Loving the nail polishes, so fun. As a blonde who has color treated my hair for 25 years, I only wash my hair nice a week and it works!! A dry shampoo is wonderful an cannot beat this price point!! Gorgeous make-up on a gorgeous gal!! Happy weekend!!

  15. I love that shadow palette and what a great price!!! I haven’t tried any Garnier face products in awhile but I see they have upped their game lately. I will have to check them out.

  16. Aw happy Birthday to your sweet baby boy! You’ll have to let us know how 4 goes. Also, love this post idea. Thanks for sharing some goodies!
