Like the rest of you, I’m so excited it’s officially Summertime!
But as fun as summer can be, the ridiculously hot temperatures and humidity (especially here in the deep South) can sometimes make it very challenging for keeping your makeup in place and looking great all day.
Fortunately, over the past several years I’ve discovered so many amazing products and tricks that help keep my makeup looking great ALL day long.
So today I’m sharing a list of The Best Sweat Proof Makeup Products with all drugstore makeup finds that are absolutely incredible and super affordable!

Before diving into the 12 Best Sweat Proof Makeup Products, I first wanted to share some of my best tips for making your makeup last longer in heat and humidity.
I personally follow these tips when doing my makeup in the summer months and paired with all my recommended products below, my makeup has held up flawlessly through long, hot, and sunny beach days, humid all-day hikes, and more!
What is the best makeup for hot humid weather?
When choosing the best makeup for hot and humid weather, you want to look for products that are long-lasting, water-proof, and oil-free.
What are some sweat proof makeup hacks?
- Switch your skincare products out for the season – Heavy moisturizers/cream products that are great for the skin in the cold winter months, tend to cake up on the face and/or make your skin look and feel greasy in summer months.
- Choose liquid foundations over cream products – Cream products don’t tend to last as long on the skin, especially in high heat/humidity.)
- Opt for a good setting spray vs heavy setting powders – You might naturally want to reach for powder to “de-grease”/mattify the skin, but this can just make your makeup look cakey and emphasize fine lines/wrinkles. Instead use a long-lasting setting spray.
- Prime your face, undereye area, and eyelids to help keep everything locked in place – Your products need something to “stick to” so don’t skip the primers in the hot months.
- When in doubt, blot it out – Less is more when it comes to makeup in the summer months, which is why I recommend to use a damp beauty sponge to blot away any excess product. You can also use this awesome oil absorbing face roller.
How do I keep my makeup from sweating off?
To prevent your makeup from sweating off, it’s important to start with a good base and primer.
You also want to make sure you choose products that really “stick” to the skin, and avoid ultra creamy products that will just glide off in the face of heat/humidity.
Last but certainly not least, ALWAYS set your makeup with a long-lasting setting spray.
What is the best cheap setting spray?
Speaking of setting sprays, the best drugstore setting spray I’ve found is the Milani Make It Last Setting Spray.
It has up to 16 hour coverage and can even be used to prime/hydrate the skin before makeup application.
I 110% recommend it to everyone!
Does primer prevent sweating?
Yes! Primers help ensure your makeup clings to the skin all day long, and can help prevent your makeup from looking shiny or oily later on.
For summertime, I recommend choosing a mattifying and/or smoothing primer and make sure you choose a product that is oil-free.
My personal favorite is the e.l.f. Cosmetics Poreless Putty Primer.
How do you keep foundation on in hot weather?
The best way to ensure your foundation stays in place even on hot, humid days is to:
- Apply a primer before foundation, and let it completely dry before applying your foundation.
- Don’t go overboard with layers and layers of foundation. Apply enough for an even coverage on your skin and use a really good blending brush to buff out the foundation for an airbrushed look. If there’s any excess left after that, use a damp beauty sponge to blot it out.
- After applying all of your face products, spray a generous coat of long-wear setting spray all over your face and let it dry completely before going outside. This will lock in your makeup look for all day wear.

I’m kind of shocked at the fact that I’ve loved this foundation for as many years as I have but it’s just THAT amazing.
