The Best Night Skincare Routine
Happy Friday lovelies! It’s a new year and that means it’s time to get that night skincare routine in check. Today I’m excited to be partnering up with Physicians Formula to share The Best Night Skincare Routine and new, affordable products you’ll want to add to your routine.
Skincare is something that is very important to me and over the last couple of years I’ve really started trying to step up my game in being more consistent with a night-time skincare routine. Today’s post will provide helpful tips on how to choose the best night-time products for your skin and will include several smart skincare habits that will help your skin look its absolute best this year.

The Best Night Skincare Routine
Step 1: Remove Your Makeup
We all know that sleeping in your makeup is a total no-no, so the very first step in your night-time skincare routine should be removing your makeup.
When removing makeup, I personally always start with the eyes and lately I’ve been loving this Coconut Milk Eye Makeup Remover. It does an awesome job of gently getting off all my mascara, eyeshadow, and eyeliner and a little product goes a long way. Simply apply a pearl size drop to the eye area and work in a circular motion and wipe off with a tissue or washcloth.
I also really love these affordable makeup remover wipes for days when I’m super tired or in a rush.
Step 2: Use a Gentle Cleanser
The next step in your night-time skincare routine is cleansing. This is a step that most people unfortunately skip, but it’s actually one of the most important steps, as un-removed toxins on the skin are what makes the skin start to age more quickly. Although you might have removed all of your makeup, your skin still has dirt, oil, and impurities from your day that need to be removed via a deeper cleanse.
I used to really struggle with finding a cleanser that worked well but wasn’t too rough on my dry/sensitive skin. Thankfully, after months of searching I finally discovered my love for cleansing balms and it’s been a game changer. I actually look forward to washing my face now because my skin feels so nice and soft afterwards.
One of my current faves is The Perfect Matcha 3-in-1 Melting Cleansing Balm from Physicians Formula and I LOVE the smell of it. Not only does it remove all the makeup, dirt, and oil off of my face, but it also has antioxidants that help keep the skin soft and hydrated.
Step 3: Apply Toner
After you’ve removed all your makeup and cleansed the skin, it’s now time to apply toner. This was a step I added to both my day and night skincare routine a couple years ago and it’s made a huge difference in my skin.
In case you’re new to toners, they balance out the skin’s pH levels, moisture levels, and deep clean your pores. Toner is especially helpful for keeping the t-zone area of your skin in check. This glow tonic is my absolute favorite toner and I recommend using it twice daily in the morning and night.

Step 4: Apply Skin Treatment Products (Serum/ Booster/ Eye Cream)
Next in your skincare routine is applying treatment products that are specific to your skin concerns. There are several options to choose from including serums (brightening or hydrating), skin boosters, retinoids, and eye creams.
Serums are universally great for giving your skin that extra dose of nourishment and I personally alternate between this overnight glow serum and this hyaluronic acid.
After applying my choice of serum I then go in with my favorite eye cream to moisturize the undereye area. For recommendations, check out the best eye creams for your 30s.
Step 5: Apply Moisturizer/Overnight Cream
Probably my favorite night-time skincare routine step is applying an overnight moisturizer. As I’ve previously mentioned my skin tends to be on the drier side, so moisturizing is a definite must.
One important thing I’ll mention here is that a night-time moisturizer or cream needs to be different from your day time one. Unlike your daily moisturizer which is light-weight, your night time cream should be heavier, as the whole point of a night moisturizer is to nourish and hydrate.
Enter in the brand new Rosé All Night Ultra-Rich Restorative Cream from Physicians Formula. I was able to get my hands on it early before it released and I have been LOVING it. First off, it literally smells like roses which is awesome, and I’m in love with the packaging.
Secondly, I’m super impressed with the formula. It’s thick and creamy and I’ve noticed a huge difference in the level of hydration in my skin since using it in my night skincare routine. It is also supposed to help with brightening the skin and has seaweed that can help reduce the appearance of fine lines.
If you’re in the market for an affordable overnight cream, this one is definitely worth checking out.
Weekend Bonus Step : Apply a Mask
To really treat your skin right, I recommend using a sheet mask in your night skincare routine at least once a week – ideally on the weekends when you’re not crunched for time. There’s seriously a sheet mask for every skin need imaginable, and I find it especially helpful when my skin is feeling extra dry or sensitive.

5 Tips For The Best Night-Time Skincare Routine
- Think of your nightly skincare routine as a re-charge for your skin. It’s all about repairing the skin from everything it faced throughout the day.
- If you find yourself getting too tired late at night to follow through with your routine, make it earlier in the evening after dinner.
- Wash your face every single night (even if you don’t wear makeup). Your skin naturally builds up oil and impurities that need to be cleansed.
- Apply moisturizer daily and nightly (don’t skimp thinking your skin needs a break- even oily skin needs extra hydration).
- Choose products that are best suited for your skin type (dry, normal, sensitive, combo, oily)

Yes! They’ve been releasing so many awesome new products this year too. The Rose` all night cream has been great on my dry winter skin lately.
I love having a good skincare routine. Especially for the morning and night.
It definitely helps to be consistent with both!
I haven’t used any PF skincare goodies — definitely need to look into a few of these.

I need to check out that eye makeup remover, it sounds lovely!
I love both the eye makeup remover and the cleansing balm. I was getting so tired of having to practically scrub my makeup off with other products and the cleansing balm literally melts it right off- it’s amazing! Highly recommend if you’ve never used one.
I’ve been really trying to get a nighttime skin routine locked down. I think I’ve got my cleanser and serums down, but I do need an eye cream and moisturizer. I’ll have to take a look at the PF product lineup. Great post!
Thanks Donnica! I’m still trying to find the perfect eye cream too- but I definitely recommend the Rose` all night cream by PF. It’s so creamy and moisturizing and perfect for applying right before bed time.
These are all great tips! I always struggle with sticking to a skincare routine, especially at night. I’ll try doing it earlier in the evening as you suggested. Thanks!
Thanks Beth! That tip has definitely helped me in being more consistent. I usually try to go ahead and do my whole routine after dinner, that way I don’t try to say I’m too tired later lol.
So many great products that I have never tried. I am all about some good skincare products that help my skin looking fresh and youthful. I really want to try out the coconut eye makeup remover!
I LOVE the rose` all night cream especially- it’s super hydrating and smells really nice! The eye makeup remover also works nicely for days I want to take off a heavy eye makeup look without harsh scrubbing. Hope you love it if you try it out! 🙂
