5-Minute Fresh Faced Makeup Tutorial
Step 1: Prime and moisturize the face
The first and most important step in achieving a fresh faced makeup look is moisturizing and priming the skin. Before putting on any makeup, I always use a good moisturizer with SPF to both hydrate and protect my skin. Check out some of my favorite skincare products over here.
Lately I’ve also started using a primer under my foundation since the humidity can be awful here in Georgia during the hot months. The Physicians Formula Natural Defense Oil is a great multi-purpose skincare product, acting as a primer, sunscreen, and pore minimizer.
I found the formula to be surprisingly lightweight and love the triple protection from sunrays (SPF), blue light (RPF), and pollution (PPF). I also love the packaging and the dropper design.
Tip: Let your moisturizer and primer dry completely before applying the rest of your face makeup.
Step 2: Even out skin tone with a lightweight foundation and concealer
Another key element in a fresh faced makeup look is a bright and beautiful looking complexion. Anytime I’m going for a more natural makeup look I opt for a lightweight foundation vs. a full coverage one, because you really want your natural skin to shine through.
For this fresh faced makeup look, I used the Physicians Formula Natural Defense Sheer Line of Defense Foundation with SPF 30 in the shade Fair-to-Light, and I love how it looks like my natural skin, but better. It perfectly evened out any redness on my face and I love the SPF 30.
I also used the Physicians Formula Natural Defense Total Coverage Concealer in Fair which is one of my new favorites! I love the packaging with the easy applicator tip and I found the formula to be perfectly creamy and lightweight with awesome coverage. If you have dark circles and a more dry under eye area like me, I recommend giving this one a try, as it has surprisingly great coverage and I didn’t notice any major creasing.
For this fresh faced makeup look I applied it under my eyes, nose, on my chin and the bridge of my nose, and the center of my forehead to conceal and brighten the face.
Step 3: Eliminate shine with a light powder
The next step in this fresh faced makeup look is setting your face. The last thing you want is your face looking shiny or oily, so I highly recommend applying a lightweight setting powder all-over the face and to the undereye area.
I used the Physicians Formula Natural Defense Setting the Tone Finishing Powder in Fair and I’m SO impressed with these powders! The packaging and design is super similar to their classic Butter Bronzer (AKA best bronzer ever!) and they have a velvety soft texture that blends like a dream.
Step 4: Add some color to the eyes, cheeks, and lips
One of the most important steps in a fresh faced makeup look is adding some color to really enhance your natural features. A pop of color on the cheeks, lips, and eyes can really brighten up the face and draw attention to your beautiful features, and it takes minimal effort.
I absolutely LOVE the Physicians Formula Natural Defense Triple Defense Multi-Color Sticks and will definitely be using these in my makeup routine regularly for the foreseeble future. The colors are so pretty and I love how you can use them for your blush, eyeshadow, and lipstick.
For this fresh faced makeup look, I applied the Soft Pink shade in the crease of my eyes using a fluffy brush and applied the shade Warm Coral to the cheeks and lips. To apply as blush I simply dabbed some color along the cheekbones, then blended it out using my fingers for a softened, more natural look.
Step 5: Define the brows, lashes, & add some glow
A fresh faced makeup look would not be complete without defining the brows, lashes, and adding a little glow to the skin. Taking the time to fill in your brows and applying a couple coats of mascara can help really pull the entire look together.
I also ALWAYS finish off my makeup looks with my ride or die Physicians Formula Rosé All Stay Illuminating Setting Spray. It adds the perfect gorgeous glow to the skin helping you achieve that pretty, fresh faced makeup look that everyone loves.
Physicians Formula Natural Defense Collection Review & Overall Thoughts
All in all, I was really impressed with the Natural Defense Collection and there are some definite favorites from the bunch which I’ve included below. As a whole, I love that these products have a 360° Total Defense Complex to protect and defend your skin against harmful sunrays (SPF), blue light (RPF), & pollution (PPF).
As someone with fair and sensitive skin, I can really appreciate and get behind products that aim to protect our skin and are made with good ingredients.
My Favorites from the Natural Defense Collection:
Natural Defense Triple Defense Multi-Color Sticks – My favorite products in the bunch were the gorgeous multi-color sticks. I’m ALL about products that can be used in multiple ways and I love that these can be used as a blush, lipstick, and eyeshadow. The colors are so pretty, the formula is super easy to work with, and I love the durable packaging for traveling or carrying in your purse.
Natural Defense Total Coverage Concealers – I’m super picky when it comes to concealers but I was very impressed with these concealers. Not only is the formula creamy and lightweight with great coverage, but I love the easy applicator.
Natural Defense Setting the Tone Finishing Powders – I’m not normally a powder girl, but I really liked these finishing powders. The formula is silky and lightweight and very easy to apply and I love the fact that they have SPF 20. They also have a nice blurring effect to give you that perfect flawless-looking finish.

You look beautiful, as always! I’m all about the natural makeup these days (when I actually choose to wear makeup). Definitely going to try the setting powder – if it’s anything like their bronzer formula, then I’m sure I’ll be in love!

Thank-you! Same- I’ve not been wearing nearly as much lately and when I do it’s a more natural look like this one. Their powder is great and I’m a huge fan of it! It has a velvet, silky finish that I love.
