How to Make The Best Cookies from Cake Mix (Tips & Tricks)
Tip #1- Refrigerate Your Cookie Dough
Cake mix cookies are a stickier consistency than regular cookie dough, which can make them messy/hard to work with if the dough is warm.
That’s why I ALWAYS recommend refrigerating your dough for at least 30 minutes – 1 hour before baking cookies from a cake mix.
Tip #2 – Don’t Over-bake Them
For perfectly soft and chewy cake mix cookies, only bake until the edges are set.
The center will look slightly soft/underbaked but will continue to firm up as the cookies cool.
Tip #3 – Use These Tools for Cake Mix Cookies
Making cookies from cake mix is quite simple, but I definitely recommend using these affordable baking tools to make it easier.
This is my most-used baking tool and it makes mixing the cookie dough SO much quicker + easier than mixing by hand.
Another tool that will help speed up the process is a cookie scoop. It also helps ensure all your cake mix cookies are the same size.
I recommend using pre-cut parchment paper for easy, mess-free, and even baking. This is especially needed if you’re using older baking sheets.
Whenever I make any cookies, I always use these large baking sheets. This allows me to fit more cookies per pan and these pans always bake my cookies evenly.
5. Airtight Storage Containers
To ensure your cookies remain soft and fresh, storing them in an airtight container is a MUST.
When stored properly, your cake mix cookies can last up to a week.
Cake mix cookies can also be frozen like this.
