Colorful Butterfly Makeup Halloween Tutorial
Happy (almost) Halloween everyone! I wanted to get one more Halloween makeup look in this year and of course I had to keep it colorful and girly with one of my favorite things ever – butterflies!
Today I’m sharing how to create this colorful butterfly makeup for Halloween that has almost a fairy vibe to it, and it’s actually super easy to put together.
Anyone who knows me personally knows that I’ve been obsessed with butterflies since I was a baby and I just love how beautiful and inspiring they are. Butterflies remind us that growth is a process and that it’s never too late to transform into something beautiful.

For this fun butterfly makeup look, I used pinks, purples, and some shimmer to make it extra girly but you could definitely change up the colors to anything you want. An orange monarch butterfly or blue butterfly would also be really beautiful!
How Do You Do Butterfly Eye Makeup?
The great thing about this butterfly makeup look is even though it might look super complicated, it’s actually really simple to create! I always love those kinds of looks because everyone will think it took you hours but in reality it’s quick and easy!
The key to really nailing this look is having a great quality felt-tip eyeliner, as it will be your main butterfly outline and is what you’ll use to create all the detailing. My personal favorite eyeliner and the one I used for this look is the NYX Epic Ink Liner. Not only is it affordable but it has amazing pigmentation and a fine tip for both small and large lines.
For the colors of this butterfly, you don’t even need face paint – I used eyeshadow shades from my favorite Karity Matte 21 Shade Palette and the Karity Rosé All Day Eyeshadow Palette, and made them look extra bright by applying a white base underneath.
What to Wear For A Butterfly Halloween Costume
For an easy butterfly costume, pair this butterfly makeup look with a white dress (I love this lace off shoulder maxi that’s less than $30), and add in these butterfly clips to your hair and dress. It really helps tie the entire look together and gives it flower garden fairy vibes, which I LOVE!
