Skinny Chicken Taco Pinwheels
These Skinny Chicken Taco Pinwheels are the perfect appetizer for any tailgating party! Make this lighter version for less calories with all the flavor!
Fall and football season is officially upon us and I don’t know about you all but I absolutely love tailgating and having fun gatherings with family and friends to watch the big game!
But one thing I don’t love is all the greasy tailgating food, which is why I’ve teamed up with Save-A-Lot today to share one of my favorite easy and healthy recipes- Skinny Chicken Taco Pinwheels! They’re the perfect light snack for tailgating, oh so delicious, and super simple to make.
Skinny Chicken Taco Pinwheels
These Skinny Chicken Taco Pinwheels are super delicious and packed full of flavor that you won’t be able to resist! Even better this no-fuss recipe is easy to whip together and will have you enjoying tailgating time with your family and friends in no time!
To make them, you need only a few simple ingredients including lean, boneless-skinless chicken breast, light cream cheese, green onions, diced tomatoes with jalapenos, shredded cheddar cheese, burrito sized flour tortillas, and taco seasoning.
I picked up all the ingredients I needed at the Lebanon Save-A-Lot location and I always love the great selection of both private and national brands that Save-A-Lot offers. I was especially impressed with their fresh produce and just had to pick up some fresh celery and carrots to pair with my Chicken Taco Pinwheels.
Want to know my favorite thing about shopping at Save-A-Lot , though? The prices! Save-A-Lot puts the customer’s budget first and offers 40% lower prices on everyday essentials, so that customers can use their money for other important things. I’ve personally shopped at Save-A-Lot for years now and I always look at their weekly ad to find the best prices on items I love!
Head over here to sign up for Save-A-Lot’s Smart Shopper E-mail Club to receive your local store’s weekly ad, delicious and affordable recipes (like this one), and helpful tips for entertaining!
For pairing with the fresh celery and carrots, I also picked up a packet of ranch seasoning and light sour cream for a healthier dip. It’s a nice way to add flavor when eating fresh veggies without going overboard on the calories! For serving, I put everything on an adorable football tray, which is the perfect touch to any game day party!
And now for the recipe! These pinwheels are so easy to put together and you truly do get the full flavor of chicken tacos in them! I mean is there anything better?!
For the shredded chicken used in this recipe, I seasoned the chicken breast with salt and pepper, drizzled lightly with olive oil, and threw in the crock pot for 3 hours on low. This gets the chicken nice and tender, and makes shredding a breeze!

These look so good and so simple! I’ve never made pinwheels before, but I have a recent obsession with cream cheese so I’ll have to try these out. Do they keep in the refrigerator? There’s only the two of us, so I doubt we could eat them all. (doubtful, but possible) Thanks for sharing!
Thank-you! And yep they last in the refrigerator for 3-4 days after making them. If you’re just making for two you could also cut the recipe in half! ๐

Great recipe. I like to cook the chicken in the crockpot too, I would make this a day ahead, refrigerate overnight if the game day is going to be super busy with friends coming over. Pinning so I can refer back to this one!

This recipe is awesome. I also shop at Save A Lot often so winning this would be pretty cool, too!
Thanks Kate! I love Save A Lot and how you can always find unique items there! ๐
I disagree with you friend, traditional tailgating food is the best! Lol! But I guess I will have to try this lightened up version to give myself a healthier version of my normal go-tos because the football season is long and I need to be eating better!
Haha don’t get me wrong I love a good cheat meal every now and then, but when I overdo it with tailgating foods, I always feel really guilty and bad afterwards lol. Trying to be better about staying on track! ๐
