Healthy Spinach Artichoke Dip Recipe
If there’s one food weakness in my world it’s definitely chips and dip. I could eat chips and dip all day, and my go-to for years now has always been spinach and artichoke dip.
But with doing my first Whole30 and eating more clean, lately I’ve been on a journey to find healthier alternatives to foods I love, and that’s where this awesome skinny spinach artichoke dip recipe comes into play.
Ingredients Needed for Skinny Spinach Artichoke Dip:
This healthy spinach artichoke dip has way less calories and fat than traditional spinach artichoke dips because of all the healthier ingredient swaps. Below, I’ve listed out all the ingredients you’ll need to make this easy and delicious dip.
Kitchen Tools Needed:
Ingredients Needed:
- Spinach – I recommend using frozen, as it’s easier for this recipe. Simply pop out of the freezer to thaw, and drain excess moisture thoroughly using some paper towels in a colander.
- Marinated Artichokes – You can find these in jars at your grocery store, and they’re super easy to drain and chop up.
- Non-Fat Greek Yogurt – Greek yogurt is the perfect substitute for the mayonnaise and sour cream you’ll find in traditional spinach artichoke dips, while still adding a ton of flavor. (I love the Oikos brand)
- Light Cream Cheese – Light cream cheese adds the perfect creamy consistency in combination with the Greek yogurt. You won’t even miss the extra calories.
- Parmesan Cheese – I recommend grabbing a wedge of parmesan and grating it yourself for the most delicious flavor.
- Feta Cheese – Feta is one of my fave cheeses for adding a ton of flavor, while helping cut down on calories. It adds the perfect saltiness to this dip.
- Mozzarella Cheese – You really can’t have spinach artichoke dip without delicious mozzarella cheese, in my opinion. Combined with the other two cheeses, this triple cheese dip is a force to be reckoned with.
- Garlic and Onion Powder – I always love adding garlic and onion powder to dishes to add flavor without adding extra fat/calories. If you like things a little spicy, you can also add some red pepper flakes, if desired.
- Fresh Lemon – The juice of a lemon really enhances and brings out all the rest of the flavors in this delicious dip. You only need 1 tsp, but it makes all the difference in the flavor.
- Salt
To make this Skinny Spinach and Artichoke Dip, I like to start by combining my yogurt, cream cheese, garlic, salt, and lemon juice, and then add in my drained spinach and chopped artichokes.
Make sure you drain your spinach really well. I recommend thawing it out, lining a colander with paper towels and wrapping the spinach, and squeezing out the excess water.
Lastly, I fold in my cheeses one at a time until everything is perfectly mixed.
Pour everything into a nice casserole dish (the one you will be serving it in) and bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until the top and edges are lightly golden. You can also pop it under the broiler for a minute, if desired.
Doesn’t it look so delicious?! Serve it up with your favorite tortilla chips, crackers, pita bread, or veggies and you have you a yummy and healthy appetizer for your next party!
