How to Make Perfect Banana Bread Every Time
In case you’ve never baked banana bread before, I’ve included two super important tips below to help ensure your banana bread turns out amazing.
- USE REALLY RIPE BANANAS – You know when your bananas turn brown, spotty, squishy, and you think they need to be thrown away? Use those in this recipe. Seriously the more ripe the bananas are, the sweeter they are, and the better they taste in banana bread.
- DO NOT OVERMIX THE BATTER – When it comes to baked goods like breads and muffins, it’s very important not to overmix the batter. Why? Because overmixing = dry texture. Simply stir all the ingredients together by hand and when you add in your flour stir it until just combined. This will ensure your banana bread turns out perfectly moist and delicious!

I love this recipe! I wasn’t able to find the nutritional facts though….can you tell me the carb count, calories, etc. ?
Thanks Lindsay! I actually don’t provide nutritional info on my recipes but you can easily put the link in myfitnesspal app and it should be able to calculate that for you.
Is baking powder needed for this recipe?
No, just baking soda.
This was great. I added pecans. I have been cutting down on sugar overtime so found it sweet for me. Would cut back by 1/4 c of honey next time. Took longer to cook.
Glad you liked it, Margaret! It’s weird how when you cut back on sugar so many things taste sweeter than before – I’ve had to tweak a lot of my older recipes because I prefer less overly sweet things nowadays too.
I used oat flour put in chocolate chips and made muffins
I bet it was yummy in muffin-form! Thanks for sharing!
Is it the same ratio using oat flour?
I notice you mentioned cinnamon in your description of the flavours in the bread, but I don’t see cinnamon as an ingredient. Have I missed something?
Hi Michele! Thanks for catching that. My recipe box didn’t save that ingredient unfortunately. I just updated the recipe to reflect how much cinnamon should be in it. Enjoy!
I noticed it also calls for sugar but does not list how much
Hi Jen, this recipe uses honey instead of regular sugar. You could also substitute maple syrup if you prefer that. 🙂
Could I use coconut flour?
Yes, you can!
Nothing like a good banana bread recipe! I love the way it makes the house smell.
Omg that heavenly smell is THE BEST. Love me some banana bread! 🙂
Is there a nutritional info area? Did I miss it?
